Every year, the National Paddling Film Festival highlights the best films in paddlesports. Held in Frankfort, Kentucky at the Buffalo Trace Distillery the NPFF showcases a fantastic mix of professional and amateur videos submitted into the competition. The very best films are added to the NPFF Roadshow where they tour the country being exposed to thousands of paddlers and adventure seekers. ACE Adventure Resort is super excited to host this Roadshow for the first time as part of our Labor Day ACE Weekend. Here is a taste of some of the films you will see at our free outdoor showing.

The River’s Call

From the furthest sources of the Amazons to the calm water of the Peruvian jungle, 6 kayakers embark upon a 17 days self-supported descent on the Rio Apurimac. Led by their passion for the river and adventure desire, those 6 friends are gradually paddling far in the Andes’s heart. This film highlights a journey along the tormented sacred Inca waters. This trip is about living off little, united in a pristine environment, unexploited by mankind. From the Peruvian mountains to the
the entrance of the Amazon rain forest, this movie recounts a long and difficult ride through the guts of the Andes where only kayakers can access.

EXPLORE Chapter One

It doesn’t have to be the first, the longest, or the tallest. You don’t have to be the best, most famous, or even have much of a reason at all. When a passion or desire takes hold within, all you have to do is explore.

The U.S. National Whitewater Center presents EXPLORE Chapter One, a short film by Cooper Lambla and Tyler Allyn about the pursuit of an active, outdoor lifestyle. Shot on location in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. Chapter Two, a short film by Tyler Allyn and Cooper Lambla about the pursuit of an active, outdoor lifestyle. Shot on location in Labrador, Canada.

The Struggle

The short film details a 20-day, 280-mile trip through the Grand Canyon in February/March of 2019. Their goal is to emphasize the need to still get out and explore while being mature and balancing the work/hobby struggle. The filmmakers hope you enjoy this as much as they enjoyed making it!

The Klinaklini

In the Fall of 2017, a team of women kayakers embarked on a mission to paddle the “unrunnable” gorge of the Klinaklini River in British Columbia. Tensions rose as the team assesses their options with water levels rising and the team is forced to make a hard decision.

 

Free Outdoor Showing

These are just a few of the films you will see at the National Paddling Film Festival  Roadshow. You will find videos about iconic rivers around the globe, plus adrenaline-pumping films featuring the rowdiest whitewater around, as well as insightful movies that show the heart and soul behind of some of the best paddlers in the world.
