Hit the trails on a hike, or bring your own bike (or rent one from us) and see The New River Gorge, The New River, and more. Bring your own fishing equipment and check out our private ponds, no West Virginia Fishing License necessary. If birdwatching is more your speed, multiple species of birds call ACE and The New River Gorge their home, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise. Miles Of Trails To Explore
Stop by our Welcome Center and get a free trail map, then hit one of the dozens of trails that encompass miles of terrain at ACE Adventure Resort. See incredible views of the New River Gorge by hiking the 1 mile (2 miles round trip) Oather Trail to the edge of The Gorge where you’ll see the New River and views of the historic town of Thurmond. Or, hike the Arbuckle Trail to see ACE’s own waterfall. With so much to explore and trails at every level of difficulty, you’ll find the perfect path to take at ACE.
Private Biking Trails
Whether you’re new to mountain biking, or you hit the single track trails often, we have the trail for you at ACE. Bring your own gear, or rent a mountain bike from us, and stop by the Welcome Center or our Mountain Bike Shop for a trail map. Featuring beginner, moderate, and advanced trails, you’ll be rolling in no time. Check out Gorge views, head down to the river or stay in the woods-choose your own adventure!
Resort Guest Fishing Ponds
Bring your own fishing equipment and spend the day fishing in one of our private resort fishing ponds. Our catch-and-release ponds are stocked with catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, and carp. No West Virginia Fishing License is required for fishing on our property.

If ornithology is more your speed, you’ll be living in a birdwatcher’s paradise at ACE Adventure Resort. Many species of migratory birds choose The New River Gorge as a nesting stop, making it a prime location for viewing dozens of species of birds. Birds of prey like the bald eagle and peregrine falcon call The New River Gorge their home and are often seen in our area. Diverse species of many other birds are commonly viewed at ACE and in the neighboring New River Gorge National River.
