Supporting Educators
Educators At ACE Adventure Resort
ACE Adventure Resort provides a location for educators to combine academic development, leadership skills, team building, and the outdoors all in one place. Academic Field Trips connect learning with an unforgettable experience, and for some students, it can change the trajectory of their life’s work and the way they play and exercise. Hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and boating are all interests and activities that become a part of a person’s life and community. You can be a climber or boater working in the outdoor industry at a resort, national park, state park or agencies. Or you can be an engineer, teacher, or construction worker who recreates outside for exercise and personal challenges throughout your life.
Begin planting the seeds of leadership and confidence; both are born in adventure. Working together as a cohesive unit taking on the rapids of the New River connects and strengthens individual and group relationships. Discover your inner “leader” as you tackle the demands and expectations of rafting the New River, the Team Challenge, and Mud Obstacle Course. Overcome fears and stand on those victories when you lean forward off the edge of the aerial park or zip line platform. You just thought you were afraid of heights. Conquering that fear is a stepping stone to gaining the confidence to become your best you. It all begins with experiencing what is out there, and in West Virginia, the opportunities are varied, challenging, and very personal
STEM Outdoor Education trips teach Hydrology while rafting the New River, Ecology while zip-lining, Geology while rock climbing and rappelling, and Physics at the Aerial Park or the Water Park. Customize your trip using the nonprofit group rates for a 1-day or multi-day excursion to the New River Gorge National Park, satisfying academic requirements while experiencing the exhilarating mountains, river, and woods of West Virginia.
ACE provides specific packages for Tourism and Hospitality students. The package includes a presentation from an ACE representative along with an opportunity for questions and answers. Enjoy a meal together at the Lost Paddle Restaurant and finish the day with a pre-booked adventure of your choice. Don’t stop asking questions, and your guides are always ready to share their experiences and wisdom gained working in Tourism and Hospitality.
These packages aren’t limited to just Hospitality and Tourism groups. ACE’s hiking and rafting guides include the history of the New River Gorge and Appalachia. WV Tourism got its start here in the New River with the emergence of the Rafting Industry in the early 70s and the completion of the New River Gorge Bridge that opened up Southern West Virginia to travelers looking for beautiful vistas, waterfalls, and adventure. Be sure to plan a hike to Finn’s Falls at ACE Adventure Resort during your stay. Before doing so, sign up to participate in WV Tourism’s Waterfall Trail, and Finn’s Falls can be your first stop. Don’t stop! Find two more waterfalls from the 43 waterfalls located around the state on the website and get a sticker. Remember . . . it’s all about discovering your “Wild and Wonderful” state of West Virginia.
Class Trips are an integral component of every school, providing shared experiences that connect students, developing leadership skills, and celebrating accomplishments. Academic and Athletic Summer Camps extend the school year into the summer months. Providing a trip to the waterpark or a guided activity can be a reward for your students or an extension of your academic and athletic programming. Colleges and Universities utilize ACE Adventure Resort’s in a variety of ways.
Athletic Teams supplement their training and team building programming using guided activities and the 35+ miles of trails along with meals and budget-friendly lodging.
Outdoor Clubs and Education Programming benefit from the large variety of land and water based guided activity options that are essential experiences for preparing young adults in outdoor careers. Fall Gauley River and Spring New River rafting trips present an opportunity for school sponsored excursions during Fall and Spring breaks.
Student Life leaders planning retreats and leadership programming for staff and student leaders will find ACE Adventure Resort the “go to” location for budget-friendly lodging, activities, meals, and meeting spaces for their training and development programming.
Plan a 1-day or multi-day trip using the non-profit group rates. That plan can be as basic as a trip to the Waterpark or ACE’s Rafting, Rock Climbing, Aerial Park, Mountain Biking, and Zip Lining can challenge you physically and personally. The Mud Obstacle, Aerial Park, Paintball, and Team Challenge activities help you identify the leaders and encouragers and strengthen your group’s ability to work together to accomplish a common goal. Looking for a more reflective trip? Consider a guided hike, Stand Up Paddleboarding, or Lake Kayaking.
Stay on site and stay close to all the fun. Enjoy a campfire at the end of your day and retell stories of your adventures. ACE offers a range of lodging options. Is primitive camping not your thing? Upgrades are available for rustic lodging or budget friendly group lodging.
If you don’t want to cook all your meals on your own, leave the cooking to us and take advantage of ACE’s on site dining options. With multiple menu options for even the pickiest eaters, we can help you find the best dining experience to meet your group’s needs and budget!
