About ACE Adventure Resort

Kids enjoy a brick oven pizza party at ACE Adventure Resorts West Virginia Water Park.

For over 40 years, ACE Adventure Resort has guided vacationers away from their everyday lives and into the breathtaking outdoors of West Virginia. As a family-owned and operated business, our owners’ passion for introducing people to the world of whitewater rafting is what started it all.

1988, ACE purchased this expansive tract of land, extending into the New River Gorge. Part of this land, known as “Wonderland,” features a series of lakes, stunning cliffs, and picturesque overlooks. In 2010, The Travel Channel visited the resort and ranked ACE #1 in North America among the World’s Most Extreme Outdoor-Adventure Resorts. Today, ACE has grown into a 1,500-acre adventure resort that offers more than 20 activities, deluxe mountain cabins, and a variety of dining options.

Whitewater Rafting

Over the years, our resort has rapidly expanded, outpacing the growing whitewater rafting industry. With more than 40 years of experience, we are excited to share our love for whitewater rafting with everyone!

West Virginia Whitewater is renowned for the thrilling journey provided by the Lower New River Gorge, our most popular rafting trip. The Lower New River is perfect for beginners and experienced rafters. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly or more leisurely rafting experience, consider the Upper New River—it’s perfect for families!

If you’re visiting in the fall, don’t miss our Gauley River rafting trips! The Upper Gauley River features five of the most challenging rapids guided by commercial rafters in the U.S. while immersing you in a breathtaking wilderness adventure. Meanwhile, the Lower Gauley River boasts big waves and long rapids with unforgettable views.

Guided Adventures

We are located in the heart of the New River Gorge, allowing us to establish private rock climbing sites along our extensive cliffs. We have built thirty-five miles of recreational trails that connect to the National Park trail system, which extends for many additional miles. Additionally, we have developed a mud obstacle course, a team-building high ropes course, a disc golf course, and a paintball park.

In 2008, ACE entered a significant period of growth by constructing the first zipline in West Virginia. Our ziplines run along the rim of the New River Gorge and feature over a mile of combined cable, offering stunning views of the gorge below. ACE gained global recognition in 2012 when we set a Guinness World Record on one of our ziplines. More than 183 participants zipped along a 203-foot cable in under an hour, surpassing the previous record of 122 participants held by Germany.

Waterpark

ACE Adventure Resorts’ 5-acre waterpark features thrilling water slides, ziplines, inflatable water toys, and a white sandy beach. Enjoy a full or half day of fun, bounce on obstacles, relax by the beach, and create lasting memories. The full-day water park pass is popular among guests and locals. We also offer half-day and individual season passes for significant savings!

The waterpark is next to dining options, so you won’t have to travel far to grab some grub to enjoy lakeside!

Lodging

Why stay in a hotel near the New River Gorge National Park when you can enjoy a vacation rental in the heart of The Gorge? We offer over 50 different cabin rentals on a 1,500-acre mountainous property adjacent to the stunning New River Gorge.

Events

Mountain Music Festival is one of our most significant events and has seen a huge growth in popularity since starting in 2014. Our trail systems have also allowed us to host many different trail runs and races, including the first 100-mile race in West Virginia, Rim to River 100, in 2020.

ACE hosts many events throughout the season to ensure there is something for everyone. Be sure to keep up with our events page on the website and our social media platforms to keep up with upcoming events.

Meet Our Guides

A raft full of guests paddle under the new river gorge bridge on a whitewater rafting trip.

All of our guides are professionally trained and certified in their areas of expertise. Many hold national and international industry certifications, and many of our senior staff serve as trainers and instructor trainers for these certifications. We believe that friendliness enhances the experience, while training ensures safety. At ACE Adventure Resort, we prioritize both aspects of adventure.
