Friendly Fire Live @ The Lost Paddle

Celebrate the beginning of summertime with live music on the deck of The Lost Paddle. Friendly Fire is hitting the stage this Memorial Day Weekend for a free show. Friendly Fire is a three-piece, pop/rock band from Huntington, West Virginia. The band comprises Hank Berlin on bass guitar and vocals, James Harless on guitar and lead vocals, and Alex McCoy on drums and lead vocals.

Show starts at 8pm and music goes until 11pm outside on the covered deck.

Friendly Fire is a three-piece, pop/rock band from Huntington, West Virginia. The band comprises Hank Berlin on bass guitar and vocals, James Harless on guitar and lead vocals, and Alex McCoy on drums and lead vocals. The band was founded in the summer of 2015.

Working with acclaimed guitarist and songwriter, James Barker, the band entered the studio in early 2021 and recorded their first full-length album, Junebug, released in August of 2021. Band influences include John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Teenage Fanclub, Nirvana, Talking Heads, Smashing Pumpkins, and Bruce Springsteen.

All three members of the band were born and raised in West Virginia. Meeting sometime in the summer of 2014, the bandmates soon forged an irreplaceable friendship that has endured over time. Through songs about love, alienation, heartbreak, and redemption, the band evokes an emotional response that few others can replicate. The band will celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2025, with a new, full-length album on the horizon.
Hank Berlin is a native of Huntington, West Virginia and has played bass guitar for 10 years. A talented singer and entertainer, he provides back-up vocals for nearly the entirety of Friendly Fire’s repertoire.
James Harless was born and raised in Ona, West Virginia. He started playing guitar at an early age and has had a fascination with the instrument ever since. James’s vocal range is almost unmatched, proving repeatedly that he is one of the premier singers in all of Appalachia.

Alex McCoy has been playing drums since the age of twelve. He is from Huntington, West Virginia and has performed in various bands throughout the 2010s and 2020s. Sharing lead vocal duties with James Harless, Alex is also an accomplished songwriter. James Harless and Alex McCoy both share songwriting and lead vocal roles.
