The recent National Park designation for the New River Gorge, located in Southern West Virginia has added to its popularity as one of the premier high adventure locations east of the Mississippi River. The New River Gorge National Park is becoming the “go-to” place for outdoor adventures that include: whitewater rafting, rock climbing, zip-lining, stand-up paddleboarding, and lake kayaking. You are welcome to bring your tents and stay on top of the mountain. If you are looking for a little more comfort but still budget-friendly you may want to consider bunkhouses or the cedar cabins if air conditioning is a priority. For those seeking more refined accommodations with the” comforts of home” our vacation rental cabins are available.
ACE’s group meals are designed to be kid-friendly and satisfying with the group’s budget in mind. Your group is more than welcome to bring food and equipment to set up in the campground or the bunkhouses to prepare and serve your meals. The other cost is to those leaders who are “staying back” to take care of meals rather than adventuring with their group.
Those afternoons at the waterpark fit nicely with choosing a group meal option rather than everyone heading back to camp for dinner. You can stand in line at the patio grill for pizzas and burgers, or be proactive and schedule a group meal, served at the Kingfisher Pavilion just up the hill, then everyone is back at the waterpark finishing out the evening and ready to settle down before heading to their beds.

Successful rafting requires teamwork and communication; ACE’s guides prepare the participants for the needed teamwork and demonstrate effective communication. ACE’s guides step back as the girls begin to initiate communication or teamwork and allow the girls to achieve. On the trip planning and organizational side, the ACE staff helped us maximize the girls’ experience within a budget that works for our troop. Especially for the older girls, the competence that comes from an outdoor adventure builds the confidence to face the challenges of high school and middle school.”
