Adding High Adventure to Church Summer Camp

Church Summer Camp has the potential to be the “Best Week of the Summer” for the youth of your church.  It doesn’t have to be expensive, there’s plenty to do “on your own”.  It’s all about location.

The New River Gorge National Park is within a day’s drive of many east-coast locations.  What outdoor activity can’t you do here?  ACE Adventure Resort has the infrastructure and guides to make Summer Camp challenging, memorable, and full of shared experiences that break down walls and provide opportunities for your leaders to speak into the lives of the youth they have committed their lives to serving.

ACE’s Aerial Park, Zip Lining, and Rock Climbing trips challenge youth to step out of their comfort zone and build confidence as they overcome fears.  Those victories strengthen their resolve to “do hard things”.

Whitewater rafting is the original teambuilding experience here at ACE.  Guides are trained and equipped to take your group of teenagers and turn them into a coordinated team of young people ready to work together under one leader as they take on the rapids of the New River Gorge. Looking for more team-building activities?  Look no further than ACE’s Mud Obstacle Course, Team Challenge, or Paintball options.

The Wonderland Waterpark finishes off every day with fun, plenty of exercise, and more challenges.  Climb giant inflatable mountains and jump into the lake. Splash down from the tower on the dual lake zip line. More team-building practice awaits your group as they spin the giant ”Saturn” inflatable.  Continue to play hard as you take on the 50+ huge inflatables awaiting your group at ACE’s 5-acre spring-fed lake.

Lodging can be a huge obstacle to traveling away from local resources in your community. ACE can help you there.  Primitive Camping is the most cost-effective option, but you can also consider ACE’s bunkhouses, clustered together in Deer Hollow, an easy walk to trip check-ins, the waterpark, restaurant, and hiking trails. Depending on the size of your camp, you may only need a few bunkhouses, or reserve all of them with a group of 120 – 168.

Meeting tents are available to provide group gathering spaces close to the bunkhouses.  A favorite morning or evening hike is just a fifteen-minute walk from Deer Hollow to Concho Overlook. ACE offers group meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at the Kingfisher Pavilion or as a take-out option.

The Cabin Tents, located at the top of the mountain, offer a comfortable, more intimate lodging option. You will find 23 units that hold four to six people, depending on how well you like each other, with ACE’s 40-acre campground next to the cabin tents to supplement your lodging needs.  The Cabin Tents straddle either side of the Event Area, presenting your camp with the option of renting the 120’ by 50’ pavilion and kitchen space to prepare and serve your meals and gather throughout the day and into the evenings.

If your group is large enough to use both the bunkhouses and cabin tents, and you are looking for a way to separate groups by age and gender while still creating opportunities to come together, ACE can provide shuttle transportation between areas. Shuttles can run throughout the day or at scheduled times to fit your group’s needs.

ACE offers non-profit group rates for your church and assistance with planning your Summer Camp.  You can begin those plans with a phone call (304) 469-0130 or Request a Quote for more information.
