The New River Gorge National Park
Our run takes racers into the stunning New River Gorge and travels a variety of landscapes. You will find yourself deep in the hardwood forest and at other parts of the course perched along the epic cliffs lining the gorge. Some trails are cut through rhododendron thickets while others are wide-open patches of forest. The highlights include passing abandon mining entrance, spotting wildlife, finding some breathtaking views and gazing at the numerous cascades and waterfalls as you climb out of the gorge. Don’t run too fast or you will miss out on all these gorgeous views!
Concho Overlook
The absolute best view on the entire course can be found around mile one at ACE’s Concho Overlook. All three-race routes will include this one of a kind overlook into the gorge. Here the river makes a 180-degree sweeping turn, which creates a unique view of the river not found anywhere else. Looking like a tiny toy train set 800 feet below is the historical town of Thurmond. You can still watch trains wind their way through the New River Gorge while you hydrate at your first water station on the course.
Subaru Love Promise Partnership
We are super excited to be partnering with Subaru for the 2021 Gorgeous Trail Run. This partnership will allow us to add a charitable aspect to the event and we plan on donating a portion of the proceeds to the Fayette County Humane Society. We are also planning on doing some extra special fun giveaways and promotions with these organizations so stay tuned to the Facebook Event Page for the latest updates and announcements. Burritos and Cash Money
The race perks at ACE Adventure Resort are always a highlight for many racers. Especially the overall winners who take home cash money for smoking the competition. Participants also earn a free campsite the night of the race so stick around and have some fun after the run. We know you will have worked up an appetite. Which is why we offer all runners a free burrito bar to load up on calories after competing. Some other perks not to be forgotten are medals for all finishers and a free race shirt for those who sign up before the end of July.
