West Virginia Craft Brewery Tour
Labor Day weekend at ACE Adventure Resort is jam packed with fun events from live music to outdoor movies, a yard sale and more. Saturday afternoon we are highlighting some of our favorite West Virginia breweries outside on the patio at our bar, The Lost Paddle. The West Virginia Brewery Tour is your chance to sample brews from multiple local brewers in one spot. PLUS there is live music and everything ACE is famous for like whitewater rafting, zip lines and a waterpark. We wanted to give you a sneak peek into the breweries planning to pour brews at ACE on September 4th. Â
Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company
Get Out. Explore. Bring Beer. That is the motto of Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company located in Maxwelton, WV just outside Lewisburg. This speaks loudly to us here at ACE since Adventure is our middle name so while we are out exploring we let GVBC bring the beer! Their best seller Devil Anse IPA celebrates the infamous Hatfield and McCoy feud. All of their beers highlight something special about the Mountain State including the elusive Mothman, Sasquatch and Weekly World News’ Bat Boy. Don’t miss out on these guys when you do your West Virginia Brewery Tour. Â
Bridge Brew Works
Bridge Brew Works is named for the world famous bridge over the New River Gorge in Fayetteville, WV. These guys brew beer that they want to drink. They aren’t beers you might expect to be brewed by a small brewery in Southern West Virginia. Belgian-style beers made in West Virginia? No. It’s not a joke. There are a number of year-round beers available as well as a variety of seasonal offerings from a light and refreshing Kolsch-style beer, to a big, strong Barleywine. It’s Bridge Brew’s goal to provide you year-round consistent quality along with something new each season.
Weathered Ground Brewery
Located in Cool Ridge, WV Weathered Ground Brewery has been making delicious beers since 2017. The Haggard IPA and their Cool Ridge Lager are definitely the staple brews but Weathered Ground is always trying something new. Their website and social media showoff a collage of wonderful brews accompanied with colorful can art. Be sure to try whatever these folks brew up!
Big Timber Brewing
Big Timber Brewing is located in the Heart of Appalachia, Elkins, West Virginia. The name Big Timber pays homage to the surrounding forests and the industry that built the community of Elkins. They make beer they love and they really enjoy doing it. They are planning on bringing Logger Lager Pilsner, Forestfest Oktoberfest and Overcast Hazy IPA to the event at ACE on Labor Day weekend.Â
Sophisticated Hound Brewing
Small batch brewing is the focus of Princeton brewer Sophisticated Hound. This allows them to always be trying something new and brewing a new taste. With over 20 beers on tap at their taproom it’s safe to say they get plenty of practice tasting craft beer. In 2019 these guys were the most popular brewery at our event and poured more brews than anyone else. Be sure to bring your sample glass by their booth for tastings.Â
The Freefolk Brewery
Brewing beer right down the road in Fayetteville The Freefolk Brewery describes themselves as free-spirited beer for free-spirited people. The Freefolk Brewery believe in the power of crafting things. Just check out their wild metal art and you will see what they are all about. Wild things, free things, folk things. Check out the three varieties they are bringing to ACE including Orange Oswald (SMASH), Trucker Speed (Imperial IPA) and Cerulean Warbler (Blueberry Saison).Â
Parkersburg Brewing Company
Parkersburg Brewing Co. is proud to be the first World Beer Cup winner in West Virginia with their Cellblock 304 Honey Brown Ale. This small microbrewery and brewpub are rocking in downtown Parkersburg. With a wonderful mixture of IPAs, stouts, ales, saisons and even hand crafted hard seltzers we can’t wait to see what they bring out.Â
