ACE Adventure Gear is hosting the 3rd Annual New River Gorge Race & Rodeo this May 10th and 11th. New for 2024 the event is spread over two days featuring the Ramp and Rodeo contest Friday with the Gorge Race on Saturday. Celebrate the New River all weekend and campout at ACE Adventure Resort where the awards and afterparty will be taking place Saturday night. Plus we are getting together for a river cleanup Sunday with New River Conservancy. Make your plans and get registered to compete in this year’s New River Race & Rodeo.

Ramp Contest & Rodeo Friday

Fly through the air off our riverside kicker ramp and throw your best big air trick! It’s all for fun, but there are prizes on the line for best trick and participants have the opportunity to score points towards their overall rodeo score. After riding the big air ramp we are heading downstream to surf features at Upper & Lower Railroad. The features will be selected by the judges on the day of the event based upon water levels. If the river is too high we will move the competition to the Dries. Judges will score all aspects of the rodeo competition to determine our winners.

New River Gorge Race on Saturday

Saturday afternoon we are gathering for a mass start race through the New River Gorge. Starting at Cunard and paddling 7 miles of class III and IV whitewater will be a challenge for the best paddlers. There are different classes for composite boats, plastic boats and even inflatables. We also setup some special pricing for raft teams who want to go fast with us in May. We have some awesome prizes for each class and hope you can rally your friends and brag on who is the fastest through the gorge!

Live Music & Awards Afterparty

Saturday night the afterparty is at ACE Adventure Resort. The Hooten Hallers along with The Tan and Sober Gentlemen are rocking to The Lost Paddle Stage. Both these acts are high energy and our goal is to get you stomping your feet outside on the deck. The awards ceremony will be held here Saturday night too and your admission is included with event registration. Stay tuned for announcements on prizes and how you could even win a new boat!

River Clean Up with New River Conservancy

Stick around Sunday and join us for a river cleanup with the New River Conservancy. We will be rafting a class III section of the New River while working to clean up trash. It’s ever important that we come together to help restore our favorite playground to the pristine condition it should be in. Every piece of trash removed is one less on the river after all!

ACE Adventure Gear Whitewater Series

The New River Gorge Race and Rodeo is the first of a three part event series hosted by ACE Adventure Gear in 2024. Since we are smack in the middle of whitewater heaven we thought it was only appropriate to highlight our favorite runs with a series of exciting events. Join us on August 17th at Kanawha Falls for HuckFest, which will be a combination freestyle event at the falls as well as a slalom course. Then in the fall we are once again bringing you the Upper Gauley Animal Race featuring a mass start race from Summersville Dam to Sweets Falls. Sign up and take part in all three of these events in the Mountain State this whitewater season.
