Who is The Pigment Sanctuary
This incredibly talented group of visual artists is coming back to ACE Adventure Resort this March for their annual Art Party Retreat. Their talents are pretty extraordinary and if you have not seen their art than you are missing out. Featured at Mountain Music Festival every year since 2015 this artist collaborative has fallen in love with West Virginia and we have fallen in love with them. Offering workshops, live painting and a place to showcase their work at music festivals has molded this group together into one big happy art family. Now is your chance to learn with them and participate in a range of workshops while relaxing and enjoying the beautiful New River Gorge in the mountains of West Virginia.
Mountain Music Festival
This group of talented creators came together eight years ago as a bunch of artists wanting to go to concerts and paint all the time. The Pigment Sanctuary Art Gallery at Mountain Music Festival has become a favorite element to the popular event. Over 30 visual artists showing off their work, creating new art live in person and sharing their skills with everyone that wants to learn. Music and art go hand in hand and it was important for the event organizers to create an artist friendly atmosphere at MMFest. While at Mountain Music Festival this June be sure to step into the giant 120’ x 50’ pavilion and take in the astonishing art.
The Pigment Sanctuary
A special comradery is born out of spending weekend after weekend at festival after festival, painting after painting. This group quickly realized that what they could create together was better than competing against each other. These visual artists would set up galleries under the same tents, sometimes as small as a 10×10 canopy, sometimes a circus tent that demanded two medium-sized elephants to erect the poles. This amazing group had as many triumphs as they did tragedies, and the ones who stuck around through adverse conditions, and even a tornado once, are the ones that make up the Pigment Sanctuary.
Inspired by the Mountain State many of these artists packed up and moved to West Virginia over the last few years. They found a home in Princeton where they started a permanent Pigment Sanctuary. You can find their gallery in downtown, on Mercer Street, in the back of Wild Roots Coffee Shop. In this space you will find them creating, teaching and collaborating on their next big project. It’s really cool to see how this group of wonderful individuals have grown over the years and how fantastic the community is reacting to everything they are doing.
