Top 4 Reasons to Visit ACE This Spring
We’re in the middle of winter’s peak here in the beautiful West Virginia Appalachian Mountains, but we’re already thinking ahead to spring. ACE Adventure Resort, home to some of the best white water rafting in North America, is an award-winning four-season resort with a slew of adventure-based activities near the breathtaking New River Gorge. It may not seem like it at the moment as snow continues to cover the majority of our continent, but we’re only a handful of weeks away from spring’s much-anticipated arrival here in Oak Hill, WV. Spring ushers rebirth as leaves, flowers, and wild animals quickly grow and spread through the Appalachians. But spring is also the revival of white water rafting, New River Gorge camping, and the ever-popular Mountain Music Festival. Here are four head-turning reasons to visit ACE this spring.
1. New River Rafting Adventures
Spring’s highly-anticipated arrival will bring exhilarating white water adventures for thrillseekers here at one of the premier West Virginia resorts. Both the Lower and Upper New River are open in the springtime. The guest-favorite Lower New River opens in early April, while the beginner-friendly Upper New River has limited availability until mid-May. A full-day Lower New River rafting experience includes 6-7 hours of white water rafting, a yummy riverside lunch, an experienced guide, and priceless memories shared among friends and family. The full-day Upper New River trip includes all of the above plus swimming and fun river games!
2. Mountain Music Festival
The annual Mountain Music Festival returns for a sixth year to ACE Adventure Resort. While May 30 seems like a long way off, tickets and on-site lodging usually fill up weeks before the festival. Most festival-goers prefer to sleep outdoors in one of our New River Gorge camping sites. This year’s headliner is Tyler Childers, a budding Americana star from Kentucky’s Appalachians. He’ll be joined by an eclectic mix of more than 25 artists, including The Floozies, The Vegabonds, The Werks, and The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. “Early Bird” tickets start at just $99, which also includes two nights of camping!
3. New River Gorge Camping
One of the best things about spring is that it brings warmer weather, which in turn allows our thrillseeking guests to camp in our serene mountains. Mountain Top Camping starts at just $15 per person, per night. ACE Adventure Resort is one of the only rafting companies in the area that also provides camping in WV. After each full day of adventure, retreat to your campsite for a night of cold beer, roasted marshmallows, and tall tales of the day’s best white water thrills.
4. Rock Climbing
Guests can rock climb with our experienced guests year-round at ACE Adventure Resort, but there’s just something about scaling the magnificent Endless Wall in the crisp spring mountain air. As the New River Gorge regains its many shades of green, you’ll have the rare opportunity to climb up some of the best walls on the East Coast. The 1,000-foot-deep New River Gorge provides seven miles of strong sandstone, perfect for a day’s worth of challenges, lessons, and breathtaking valley views.
