On your first day you’ll take on thrilling class IV rapids and enjoy a dip in the River on the calmer sections. After your exciting day on the New River, relax around a campfire before drifting off to sleep at our newly renovated overnight campsite. Trip Highlights:
Lower New River Rafting
- Jump Rock: Experience nature’s high dive by jumping off this sandstone boulder into the New River. This is an activity only offered on full day river trips, and is a New River Gorge whitewater rafting guest favorite!
- Surfing: Surf West Virginia style by riding the waves of the New River. This unique experience is only available on full day river trips.
- Swimmers Rapid: Jump out of the boat and swim through a fun and splashy rapid, an option only available on full day trips.
- Class IV+ Rapids: With two class IV+ rapids named Double Z and The Keeney’s, this trip is perfect for beginners and seasoned rafters alike.
- New River Gorge Bridge: Lower New River Gorge rafting trips end under the awe-inspiring New River Gorge Bridge, providing dramatic closure to the most inspiring outdoor journey on the East Coast.
- Riverside lunch: Let your guide be the chef and prepare you a delicious feast on the side of the river.

Information and details:
The adventure overnight trip will start with your half day activity. When the activity ends you will walk to the riverside camp site. It’s extremely important you check into your first activity with everything you need for the trip, as you will not come back to your vehicle. Please read through the list below of what we will provide and what you should bring along.
Trip photos and video
- Whitewater Photography will take photos along the way for purchase after the trip in the Outfitter store at ACE.
- Most full-day Lower New trips have a video boater, but it does depend on size of trip and overall busyness of trips that day. In order to guarantee your trip is videoed, you must pre-pay for your trip video.
- Tents and 4in thick sleeping pads
- Transportation to and from the river
- All rafting equipment (this does not include wetsuits and rain gear, however if it is needed it can be rented)
- Guides
- Meals: dinner on day 1 and breakfast and lunch on day 2
- Beverages: sodas, water and a limited supply of beer
Over Night Camp Amenities:
- Tents are provided, and each tent sleeps 2 people
- 4in thick sleeping pads
- 15 – 14ft x 14ft elevated tent platforms (large enough for 2 tents)
- 30ft x 40ft communal covered riverside pavilion
- 5ft x 8ft communal fire pit
- Shower house with flush toilets and hot showers (water is gravity-fed and heated with on-demand propane. no electricity)
- Light is provided by tiki torches
- Sleeping bag pillow (ACE does rent slumber kits that include sleeping bag and pillow)
- Personal toiletries (biodegradable soap, towel, toothbrush, etc.)
- Change of clothing for camp, including dry shoes
- River clothes
- Additional beverages
- Flashlight
- Jacket for camp
- Sunscreen
- Bug repellent
- Books, games, cards
- Waterproof disposable camera
- Fishing pole (fishing licenses are available at local sporting goods store)
Appetizers when we arrive at camp:
- Loaded nachos
Dinner Day 1:
- Ribeye steak (we can also pack salmon for non red meat eating guests and portobello mushroom steak as a vegetarian and vegan option)
- Baked potato and toppings
- Corn
- Salad and dressing
- Grilled/toasted bread
- Desert pies (rotates between pecan, cherry, and apple)
- Water, soda, and a limited amount of beer
Breakfast Day 2:
- Scrambled eggs
- Bacon and sausage
- Breakfast potatoes
- Muffins
- Water, milk, coffee, tea, and juice
- Seasonal fresh fruit
- Vegan pancakes (if we have vegetarians and vegans)
