What You Need to Know About the Gritty Chix Mud Run 2025
You’re in. You’ve committed. And this Saturday, June 21st, 2025, you’re about to get muddy, strong, and unstoppable at the Gritty Chix Mud Run at ACE Adventure Resort in Oak Hill, West Virginia. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a returning mud warrior, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your Gritty Chix experience.
This empowering event features two course options to match your energy: the Moxie Mile, a fun-focused one-mile route, and the Tenacious Trail, a rugged 5K for those looking for a bit more challenge. No matter which path you’re taking, both routes finish with the ultimate obstacle and mud pit zone—complete with tubes, walls, balance challenges, and, of course, an absurd amount of mud. You can take each obstacle head-on or go around—this isn’t about competition, it’s about community.
Waves begin at 11:00 AM and continue every 30 minutes until 2:00 PM. Throughout the day, expect nonstop encouragement, laughter, and maybe even a little glitter. Creativity is key—many racers show up in tutus, team colors, superhero gear, or full-blown costumes. You’ll have a chance to win prizes for the best outfit, most creative team name, and more. Whether you’re crawling, climbing, or dancing your way through the course, the vibe is all about support and celebration.
To be ready for the mud, pack smart. Wear moisture-wicking, tight-fitting clothes (trust us—cotton will weigh you down and it is not a great clothing choice for this event.) Choose shoes with solid grip and secure laces—old running shoes are fine, but make sure they stay on in the mud. For afterwards, don’t forget a towel, dry clothes, sunscreen, and maybe a plastic bag or two for your muddy gear. ACE offers shower stations and shuttles to help you rinse off and get refreshed after the race.
Once you cross the finish line, the party keeps going. Head over to The Lost Paddle Bar & Grill for food, drinks, and free live music all afternoon. This year’s post-run lineup features Florencia & The Feeling, The Ain’t Sisters, The Annie Neeley Band, and MA’AM—an incredible mix of funk, soul, rock, and Americana to keep the good vibes flowing. You can also spend the evening at the waterpark after the race if you wish! It’s a great way to cool down, reconnect with your crew, and celebrate what you just accomplished—mud, grit, and all.
Even better? By running Gritty Chix, you’re helping support a great cause. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit New River Animal Rescue, a local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in need. During the event, NRAR will have an information booth on-site, and we’ll also be collecting donations and donation items from their wish list. So if you’d like to give a little extra love, feel free to bring supplies like pet food, cleaning products, or toys to drop off and help animals in our community.
This isn’t just another event—it’s a celebration of strength, joy, and fearless fun. So hydrate, rest up, and get pumped. This Saturday, you’re not just running a course—you’re joining a movement. Throw on your costume, embrace the mess, and get ready to make muddy memories you’ll never forget. See you at the start line!
