Ready for an extraordinary adventure of a lifetime? Head to Ace Adventure Resort this October and experience one of West Virginia’s incredible festivals, Bridge Day 2017! You know that we have a fantastic mountain sports trip where you get to walk the catwalk of the New River Gorge Bridge throughout the year, but this is one day where the bridge shuts down entirely for adventurers like you! Check out all that you can do during this fantastic one day out of the year; you won’t want to miss out or else you’ll have to wait until 2018!
What is Bridge Day?
West Virginia’s Bridge Day, located on the New River Gorge Bridge, is known as one of the most significant extreme sporting events throughout the county. On the third Saturday in October, this year it’s on Oct. 21st, you’ll be able to experience hundreds of BASE jumpers and more. No need to walk the catwalk this year, because from morning to afternoon (9 am to 3 pm) you’ll be able to legally walk the entire length of the New River Gorge Bridge. This bridge is the world’s second longest single arch bridge in the country and on most day’s you aren’t able to walk across it, but you can on Bridge Day! You’ll also be able to browse throughout the vendor booths where we know you’ll find just the right gift to bring home.
This year, make sure to stop by the ACE Adventure spot near the bridge for a taste of locally roasted coffee from Top Knot Coffee Shop in Oak Hill. We will also have ticket’s to this year’s Nightmare in the Gorge and season passes available to purchase for the 2018 season. ACE Adventure Gear will also have demo gear for sale at this space and if you don’t see what you want, not to worry, ACE Adventure Gear is just down the road in downtown Fayetteville.
What to do?
There is plenty of fun things to do during Bridge Day! You can sit back and watch as people jump and fly to safety over one of West Virginia’s most beautiful overlooks. Before the official bridge day activities commence, check out the Taste of Bridge Day where you’ll be able to try some delicious food, or get your groove on at the the Lost Paddle on the evening of the 21st with Vern’s Pot of Chili as the headliner, and opening up with The Kind Thieves and The Settlement. If you can’t get enough of the festivities, the 9th annual Bridge Day Chili Cook-off will be in Downtown Historic Fayetteville on Oct. 21th, right after the Official Bridge Day events. For an even more unique perspective of these daredevils, join us for a trip down the Lower New on October 21st. Fall foliage, crisp breaking waves, and a pit stop to enjoy the views of base jumpers, this trip down the New River Gorge is one not to be missed!
