L3 ACA Whitewater Rafting (Paddle)

The L3 Whitewater Rafting (Paddle) course is for individuals interested in learning the skills required to efficiently paddle a raft on rivers with class I-II rapids. This course includes advanced river reading, safety considerations, and paddling techniques. In addition, the skills required to captain, or guide, a paddle raft in class I-II rapids will be introduced.

Course Learning Objectives:
While navigating class I-II rapids in a paddle raft the participant will learn to:

• Identify whitewater features and hazards
• Become familiar with paddle rafting equipment and the river environment
• Maneuver a paddle raft
• Paddle using safe and effective techniques
• Use basic safety and rescues skills

Course includes:

•  Transportation to and from River location
• All rafting equipment
• Med kit
• Wet-suit rental available
• Lunch

Participants need to bring: 

• A $40 ACA Membership is required in order to receive a course
  completion certificate.
• Swim attire
• Closed-toed water shoes
• Personal rescue gear including throw rope, PFD, carabiners, whistle, knife
• Willingness to learn
