Over the past few days in Washington, D.C., Pope Francis has been very busy offering many blessings to those who filled the streets to greet him. Before heading to New York, Pope Francis decided to spend this morning paying respect to the river gods of the Upper Gauley River.

When the vacation day is done and you’re still craving some adrenaline, we still have the adventures that will take the edge off. Most of our whitewater rafting trips still leave time to enjoy another adventure before you go home.

The official countdown has begun!! While we’re still living it up in the summer sun, the truth is around here we all live for Fall Gauley Season! We just can’t resist those big hits and massive waves to the face from the Summersville Dam releases! If you’ve never paddled this river, rafting the Fall Gauley is truly an out of this world, cosmic experience.

Too many students lack the exposure to hands-on learning in today’s classrooms. As part of a national movement among companies paying-it-forward, the STEM program at ACE helps gets students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics with several programs all located in our private wilderness setting

With all the rain in our area lately, it’s been hard to find a place to launch paddling trips at Summersville Lake. The ACE guides have found great ways to play around in flood levels on our stand-up paddle boarding and lake kayak trips. As you can see from these photos, we launched from the local marina this week – from the parking lot since the ramp was completely submerged! (The normal launch point is Salmon Run, which was closed due to flooding.)

There really is no better time to enjoy sleeping under the stars than during a meteor shower. When it comes to some pure and simple end-of-summer fun, things heat up during the early mornings of August 11, 12, 13 and 14 for mother’s nature’s big show – the Perseid Meteor Shower.

What can we say, we love whitewater. Whether we first rafted during summer camp activities or family adventures, many of us who have chosen the river-life were introduced to whitewater at a young age. (Actually, if you ask around ACE most people can’t even remember a time when whitewater WASN’T in their life!)

June is here and schools are letting out. Even with a few more weeks left of spring, many consider this to be the kickoff of summer. This year the weather has been warm enough to believe summer arrived a few weeks earlier than normal.

Between the New River Gorge, Summersville Lake and the Meadows, there are over 65 miles of cliff faces to scale including over 1700 recognized routes to climb in our area – all range from easy to impressively difficult… and every route gives you the rush of defying gravity!

The adventure industry is a highly emotional industry. Throughout the course of the day, anyone can feel a whole range of emotions from anxiety to joy, tranquility to fear and so on.

While watching this video, that question resonated with me. I couldn’t remember the last time I did something that scared me. I’m a nearly 40 year old mother of 2.
