Since 1980, ACE Adventure Resort is the East Coast’s largest mountain hideaway exclusively focused on world-class whitewater rafting along with guided adventures, outdoor sports and activities, lodging, camping and other amenities like our spring-fed 5-acre lake, Wonderland Waterpark. The New River Gorge National River is affectionately known as the “Grand Canyon of the East” and features rafting from April through October. The New and Gauley Rivers combined offer over 100 miles of rapids all within 30 minutes of the resort. Both rivers are administered by the National Park Service.

ACE’s passion has been to create vacations featuring these rivers and other outdoor adventures so that guests can experience our forests with over 35 miles of biking and hiking trails, plus a series of ponds, a mining-era ghost town and spectacular cliffs for rock climbing, waterfalls and overlooks.

New for 2016: bigger, better water slides, 50 new obstacles & inflatable toys, an expanded white sandy beach and a newly renovated restaurant with more patio seating and table-side service. Of course we kept our crowd favorites: THE BLOB, Wet Willie and Zipline Tower are all still here! Get a Day Pass or stay the night & play all weekend!

Even land-lubbers can have fun here... lounge on our white sandy mountain beach, take on the climbing wall, bounce and flip out on the EuroBungee or play a volleyball match. On summer nights, we show family-friendly movies under the stars. Our spring-fed mountain lake is set in the heart of our 1,500 acre resort.

Summer Time Fun

It's more than just our favorite time of year, some of the best memories are made in the summer time: splashing, paddling, exploring, or sitting by the fire waiting for shooting stars. ACE Adventure Resort comes to life in the summer, the whole place is filled with laughing families and adventure stories.

Summer Adventures

Spend your summer days splashing at Wonderland Waterpark or splashing through the New River Gorge. We have adventures for every level of thrill-seeker. Float down the Upper New with the little ones or hit some big waves on the Lower New River. Float around Summersville Lake on a stand up paddle board or kayak. Zip line on the rim of the New River Gorge or ascend some of the country's best rock climbing sites.

Explore the New River Gorge

Do your soul some good by hiking the many trails of the New River Gorge, ending at some of the best views in West Virginia. ACE is nestled on 1,500 acres with over 35 miles of private trails that connect to trails within the national park. Many historical towns, like Thurmond, and overgrown-abandoned coal mines, such as the Kaymoor Mine, can be found along the New River throughout the gorge. Guided bike tours or bike rentals are also available to explore trails throughout the resort.

Spend The Night

You can spend your summer nights relaxing in the hot tub in any of our deluxe cabins. Or enjoy the endless amount of stars on any clear night from our mountaintop campground. The Secret's Out!

Wonderland Waterpark I can't believe I'm typing these words but our winter of construction is finally coming to a close. During our off-season, we have improved almost all aspects of our fun-filled resort. We've had a big secret this winter that we're finally ready to share. Transforming into a water park takes a lot more than brand new inflatables. We've also been building two 300-ft water slides alongside our already awesome water park. We're more than halfway finished with the slides and are expecting to have them open in May. Not only is our lake completely transforming, the lakeside patio is also seeing huge improvements. American Alligator Being Introduced in the New River Gorge - Got ya! Happy April Fool's!

As an effort to diversify our habitat here in the New River Gorge, officials from the EPA are introducing the American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) into the ecosystem. The current biosphere of the area is believed to support this species. "The water of the New River can reach temperatures around 85 degrees during the summer months. There is also plenty of aquatic life to sustain a healthy diet for the reptile," an agency representative stated.During a whitewater rafting trip, one of ACE's guides was able to wrangle one of the newly introduced alligators.
