Around here, we all live for Fall Gauley Season! We just can't resist those big hits and massive waves to the face from the Summersville Dam releases! If you've never paddled this river, rafting the Gauley River during the fall #GauleySeason is truly an out of this world, cosmic experience.
For six weeks from September 11 through Bridge Day Weekend on October 18, we'll be surfing the big waves of the mighty Gauley River. Plus (as if the high river water level wasn't exciting enough), we kicked off the season with a major Party in the Holler concert featuring The Wood Brothers and the Steel Drivers on our own private Wonderland mountain-top stage and festival grounds! Everyone had a blast and thanks to those who helped and came to party in the holler with us!
Pick your own thrill level by going all-out on the extreme whitewater of the Upper Gauley or work your way up to those Class 5 rapids by first running the Lower Gauley. If you want the full Gauley experience without the rush of just a single day's adventure, we recommend an overnight trip where you can sleep under the stars (or just party by the bonfire) at our private campsite.
Mark your calendars, ask off from work, book a flight, grab some friends... do whatever you gotta do to get down to ACE and raft with us during Fall Gauley Season this year. Until then, binge on some Gauley whitewater action with these videos...
Pretty light shows, friends and booze used to be the things I loved about festivals, until this year when I got to experience things as an insider and follow rock stars around like a little school girl. They call me Brannon Very Important Person Roberts. Back in June, I danced my face off at our annual two-night Mountain Music Festival. I had been to MMFest the previous year and enjoyed myself a little too much then, but this year was even better. Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band brought ALL the funk, and if you’ve ever seen them you know their contagious energy is incomparable. Always a crowd favorite. But if I’m being honest, I was most anticipating the Del... Continue Reading →
Even though we can't get enough of the good times happening here in ACE-land, believe it or not occasionally we head off the reservation to spread the word about the awesomeness of ACE. This weekend we had the opportunity to meet some new faces and adventure into some new places just up the road at Snowshoe Resort. Early Friday morning, we headed up the road for Snowshoe's Freefall Festival and Southeastern Downhill Mountain Bike Race. Hundreds of people from all over the East Coast and beyond braved the hurricane-like winds and nonstop rain during Friday night's Beer Fest and live music. (Special shout-out to Katie at BRO Magazine for helping us seek shelter from the storm!) Our favorite performance of the night was... Continue Reading →
Over the past few days in Washington, D.C., Pope Francis has been very busy offering many blessings to those who filled the streets to greet him. Before heading to New York, Pope Francis decided to spend this morning paying respect to the river gods of the Upper Gauley River. We spotted him waving to the camera and blessing the Pillow Rock rapid this morning while whitewater rafting - a more kind and humble way to enjoy the ride versus the traditional slapping of the rock with a paddle. Once again Pope Francis amazed us with his dedication and calmness as he took some time to enjoy the scenic Gauley River Gorge while visiting America. This effort is no doubt a further example of his growing... Continue Reading →
